Matt Varughese

Matt is an experienced angel investor and advisor looking at pre-seed and seed stage start-ups with innovative technology across a range of industries. He is particularly interested in healthcare, artificial intelligence and mobility. 

After starting his profession as a derivatives trader at Goldman Sachs, he pursued a career in software development, from which he developed a strong passion for investing. 

Matt grew and followed high performing product and technology teams at three start-ups. He co-founded Drover, a VC-backed marketplace scale-up, offering all-in monthly car subscriptions. As CTO at Drover, he managed a team of thirty people across engineering, product, QA testing and operational support, based in London and Lisbon. Drover raised a total of £30 million in investment and was acquired by Cazoo in 2020. 

More recently he has been working with machine learning technology at Monolith AI, implementing cutting edge AI solutions for engineers. 

Matt completed a 1st class BA Hons degree in Mathematics at Cambridge University. He developed a deep knowledge of product, technology and machine learning through a four-month research project on quantum computing at Oxford University and successfully completing Courses in Machine Learning and Technology Entrepreneurship at Stanford University.
